I DID IT! I STARTED LOSING WEIGHT!! YEEEUH BUDDY!!

I actually managed to get up this morning at 6am, too. It helped that the wife practically booted me from bed, but, you know. :) Went to the gym, did my morning cardio with her there which was really nice, said our goodbyes as she went to work, and then I saw the scale and thought to myself “seriously, if I still haven’t lost a single pound, something’s going wrong” and decided to give it another shot. Sure enough, TWELVE POUNDS have gone away! I danced into my clothes and all on the way to work.

After seeing that number, I looked at myself again, and realized that I am actually getting… well, leaner. My arms look more muscular and not filled with fat, my sides have shrunk a bit, my belly has recessed, my legs are toning… it’s hard to notice but, I can see it now, just a little.

Totally motivated now to keep going. :)

I could not, for the life of me, get my HR up today, unless I went full out. My legs were getting tired long before my heart and lungs. Is this unusual? I had to double my resistance and run as hard as I could for about 8 minutes before I made progress. Then I just… kept going. I ended up going over 1.3 miles and burnt more calories than usual, even though it wasn’t all from fat. But man, I was sweating like hell when I finished!

I think I’m going to by my co-worker’s old bike, once I move into a house. A nice morning bike ride would probably be a perfect way to burn some calories without an on-site gym. That, and it’ll let me explore the neighborhood, and see what’s around there.

Weee, progress!

Instead of going to the gym today, I ended up going up and down stairs, last night and this morning, a total of 16 times (8 down, 8 up), carrying heavy old computer equipment. I’m not sure how many calories I burned, but oh man am I sore. :) That counts as good cardio, right?

I met a friend for lunch the other day, who commented that I had very broad shoulders and look very muscular. That caused me to reevaluate my feelings of “no results” that I’ve been feeling. I looked in the mirror this morning and, sure enough, noticed that I do have stronger-looking arms, shoulders, and chest. My belly is a little bigger than I’d like it, but, it’s not round any more, it just sticks out, like a bit of a beer gut. I don’t have a massive spare tire any more.

That said, I’m feeling really good and confident today. I don’t fit into a lot of previous pants and stuff, but instead of being tight at the waist, they’re tight around my thighs, which somehow have gotten rather massive. I think, I really just need to continue with my cardio and general fat-burn, as well as pay close attention to my diet, and all will be well. :)

I went to the gym this morning, and on the way, my mp3 player ran out of batteries. So, I’m thinking “Well, crap, I already don’t feel like going. Today’s going to suck.” Real great attitude, right? I get to the gym, plug my headphones into the TV, turn it on, and see Jonny Test. It’s a cute show. Then Pokemon comes on, and I just start giggling about how silly it is and I can’t believe how much I used to like it when I heard beeping, and realized I had just finished going 30 minutes.
I wish I could get this wrapped up in it all the time! It makes the gym so much easier. I didn’t burn *as much* calories as usual, short by about 50 or so, but man I felt pretty good when it was all over. At least I went, right? :) But I’m still over 400 calories burnt, so I’m happy about that. Charging my mp3 player now, though. :)

My apt complex really needs to do something about the 80 degree gym. Blech.

I made it back to the gym today, even though I was out kinda late last night. I really had no energy, so I just kind of coasted. However, I must still have been pushing myself, because my HR was right at the fat burn zone. So, I burnt about 500 calories, 50% from fat. That’s not half bad! I should probably start tracking exactly how many calories are from fat, and this way, have some sort of measure as to how I’m doing in getting my weight off. I did end up walking about 30 city blocks yesterday, so, that should count for something at least.

Also, I did kinda eat a heck of a lot these past few days. I’m gonna return to being a lot more picky about food, and eating smaller portions, starting this morning. :) Less than 40 days to the cruise!
